I began lessons with Yoko-sensei 4 years ago. She was quickly able to identify my Japanese ability, the areas I needed to work on and suggested an excellent text book. She tailored a program that has seen me achieve level 2 in the JLPT and given me the confidence to converse in business level Japanese.
Yoko-sensei is very flexible and lessons can be as formal or casual as desired. During lessons she is happy to talk about anything in Japanese from daily life to current events and she has gone out of her way to help me with speeches, letters and various other miscellaneous Japanese tasks despite having to put in extra work outside of lessons.
Although she can speak English very well Yoko-sensei has a talent of being able to explain new vocabulary and grammar using Japanese I already understand. In this way I have gained a natural understanding of Japanese without unnecessarily translating back and forth between English.
In addition to her talent as a teacher she is also an excellent motivator and a very good listener. she is not only a teacher to me but a close confidant and friend. Soon I will return to my home country but I intend to continue lessons with Yoko-sensei online as we work towards passing JLPT level 1 together. I could not recommend a better teacher.
I wanted to take Japanese lessons so that I could express myself better with friends and neighbors.
Yoko- sensei's lessons are very personal and professional. She knows what I want to accomplish and creates lessons every week that help me do so.
I enjoy each class and am always impressed by how professional and friendly she is. Before, I used to think i was too busy to study, but Yoko-sensei's lessons motivated me to improve. For the past year I have really been opening up and pushing myself to read, write, and speak in Japanese. This is thanks to the support of Yoko-sensei and the warm atmosphere she creates in her lessons.

I've been taking lessons with Yoko-sensei for over a year and I've seen a huge improvement in my Japanese. I've taken Japanese off and on for a few years, but this is the first time I've been able to understand the grammar clearly. She is very flexible and understanding when it comes to teaching. She has
helped me prepare for tests and taught me useful phrases that I need for work and daily life in Japan. Overall, her classes are fun and easy to understand.

Yoko is by far one of the best language instructors available. In every lesson she gently pushes your boundaries and comfort zone, and asks you to think on your feet so you can learn and not just remember. She is kind and accommodating- we've even done lessons on Skype and they've been terrific. I would recommend her to anyone trying to learn Japanese!
Yoko's Japanese lessons are fantastic! She has so much energy and enthusiasm, and is always ready to answer your questions. She understands the difficulties of learning Japanese and makes beginners like me feel comfortable. Because it is a private lesson, you can go at your own pace. I can't wait for my next lesson!
I have continued taking private lessons with Yoko-sensei for a number of years now, and have progressed from beginner to intermediate level. The lessons are fun and friendly in a relaxed atmosphere. Yoko-sensei is very patient, understanding and easy to talk to. Yoko-sensei is also very flexible in terms of what I want to study, and also lesson scheduling. I really recommend taking lessons here!
